Amanda Bynes Parents Ask For Court Ordered Conservatorship
Nickelodean celebrity Amanda
Bynes has spent $1.2 million dollars of her $4 million dollars in life savings. Her parents are claiming that the money was spent in a very short
time span. As a result of what her parents believe is excessive spending and
misconduct, Rick and Lynn Bynes petitioned the court for a strict,
court ordered conservatorship. The conservatorship is similar to the one that assisted Britney Spears when she began her downward spiral several years ago. Amanda's parents are concerned for her well being. They allege that she smokes
pot, has a drug problem, and is paranoid. The judge has delayed the outcome because
he wants to speak with Amanda when she is removed from her psychiatric hold. Amanda was placed on a psychiatric hold when she started a fire in a stranger's driveway last week and took off her flaming pants.
Many are comparing Bynes' recent meltdown to Britney Spears' meltdown a few years ago and believe that Bynes' parents might have a shot at the conservatorship. However, attorney Doug Stern asserts “Britney had kids, and Amanda is responsible for herself only. That’s the biggest difference.” The court will base its determination on whether Amanda has control over her actions. If the court does not believe she does the chances for the conservatorship are much higher.
