Fight rages over Geronimo's remains
Here are the details of the lawsuit over the remains of Geronimo based on Nora Caplan-Bricker, Apache heirs sue Skull and Bones over remains, Yale Daily News, Feb. 18, 2009:
- Plaintiffs include twenty of Geronimo's lineal descendants.
- Defendants include President Obama, Secretary of Defense Gates, Secretary of the Army Geren, Yale University, and one of its organizations.
- The lawsuit was filed on February 17, 2009 which was the 100th anniversary of Geronimo's death.
- The plaintiffs seek return of his remains and punitive damages. They then will re-inter his remains in the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico.
- Geronimo's remains are rumored to be held inside the oldest of Yale's secret societies, Skull and Bones whose members allegedly stole his skull and bones from his gravesite at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

I hope that his remains will be sent back to his family. Do you think it is about time. Have we not taken enough from our native people. It is the right thing to do.
