Lillian Glasser -- Recent Developments

Earlier on this blog, I reported on the case of Lillian Glasser and the battle to control her and her $25 million fortune.  Here are some recent developments:

San Antonio:  A hearing was held on March 2, 2006 in San Antonio "to figure out the best way to talk to Ms. Glasser about what happened.  Mark Glasser's attorney says her client’s mother was given an anti-psychotic drug and held captive for nearly a year. “This poor lady has suffered because she had money and she had one child unfortunately, that was willing to take advantage of her vulnerability,” attorney Marynell Maloney tells News 4 WOAI.  An attorney representing Ms. Glasser’s daughter tells News 4 WOAI the whole situation is just a sibling dispute on how to care for their aging mother. They say Glasser’s health is deteriorating and that is why she was being taken care of by her daughter. Right now, the 85-year-old woman has been granted a temporary guardian until the matter is resolved."  See Lauren Jenkins, Son Makes Abuse Allegations and Says $20M is Missing, WOAI.com, March 2, 2006.

New Jersey:  The following is from an order signed by Judge Alexander P. Waugh, Jr. of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division (Probate Part, Middlesex County) on March 3, 2006 in Probate Docket No. 209568:

4. The Superior Court of New Jersey will exercise primary jurisdiction with respect to Mrs. Glasser, and the personal and financial issues related to her alleged incapacity and the appointment of a guardian or conservator.

5. The Bexar County Probate Court is respectfully requested to transfer the Matter of the Guardianship of Lilian Glasser, An Incapacitated Person, Docket No. 2005-PC-0843, to the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Probate Part in Middlesex County, if permitted by Texas law. In the alternative, it is respectfully requested that Docket No. 2005-PC-0843 be stayed or dismissed to allow the New Jersey action to proceed.

6. All parties subject to the jurisdiction of this Court shall take all actions necessary to effectuate this Order.

7. The Court finds that there is reason in the record to believe that Lillian Glasser is an incapacitated person and that there is good cause to appoint a pendente lite temporary guardian pursuant to N.J.S.A. 3B: 12-24. lc, and that Daniel A. Naranjo, Esquire, a member of the Texas Bar, would be an appropriate person to serve in that capacity if he is willing to accept appoint under the authority of this Court.

My name is Barbara Jarrell and I was one of Lillian Glassers Home Health Care Provider for a brief time in late 2004 to January 2005. I pray that this gets settled and Lillian gets to go home shich she is fully aware that San Antonio is not her home and she has a few homes and if my memeory serves me correct it is Florida that she longs for. my prayers go to her, she is elderly and not well and should spend her last years where she pleases, heaven knows she has enough money she should at least be able to do that. PS it is truely heart renching that Lillians daught who resides in San Antonio is so greedy that she doesn't have the best interest for her mothers well bsing that she is focused on the amount of money her mothers worth.
