Doug actually was a professor at the University of Texas for decades (1981-2006), spending five years previously at the University of Chicago and four years afterward at the University of Michigan before joining the University of Virginia in 2010. I was fortunate to be able to meet him and influence a bit of his "The Death of the Irreparable Injury Rule" while I was a visiting professor at the University of Texas in 1989-1990. I was very impressed then and have been ever since by his intellect, humility, and openness to new information and dialogue, including his current work as a co-reporter for the Restatement Third of Torts: Remedies.
