Michigan House and Senate Pass "Partial-Birth Abortion" Bans

Detroit Free Press: State lawmakers approve bans of abortion procedure, by Dawson Bell:

MichiganFlag Both houses of the Legislature approved measures Wednesday to criminalize a controversial late-term abortion procedure, signaling what may be the end of a legislative debate under way since the mid-1990s.

Bills that would allow prosecutors to charge a doctor who performs the procedure -- called partial-birth abortion by its opponents -- with a two-year felony were approved by the House and Senate, but will have to be reconciled before they can be sent to Gov. Rick Snyder for his signature. . . .
