Subversive Property and Resistance

There is a lot of talk in the media today about resistance.  Just look here.  Or here.  Or even here.

Resistance is also the theme of Sarah Keenan's (Birbeck, University of London) book, Property Governance Through Resistance:  Subversive Property Explores Progressive Potential for Property Outsiders to Re-Create Spaces of Belonging and Propriety.  Sarah's book "explores the relationship between space, subjectivity, and property in order to invert conventional socio-legal understandings of property."  As Lorna Fox O'Mahony (University of Essex) wroteProperty Governance Through Resistance "offers an insightful analysis into how property rules prevent marginalised or outsider groups from developing a sense of belonging in places that are dominated by, and governed through, an insider norm."

So if you are looking for more resistance reading, check out Sarah's book to see how property laws may be re-conceived to help marginalized communities.
