In a surprise move, the British Chiropractic Association has abandoned its defamation case against science journalist Dr. Simon Singh. The action comes after Dr. Singh won a significant ruling in an appellate court that would have allowed him the defense of fair comment against the BCA's claims that he libelled them in a Guardian article published in 2008. Dr. Singh still faces attorney costs of some 100,000 pounds. In a statement issued today, the BCA said it accepts Dr. Singh's statement that "he had never intended to suggest that the BCA had been dishonest."
