Public Indecency Draws Proposed Indefinite Suspension

The Butler (Ohio) County Bar Association has recommended an indefinite suspension of an already-suspended attorney for a series of incidents of public indecency that involved driving and masturbating while nude.

The behavior first surfaced in 2006 when video of him "naked after hours in the Government Services Center" was discovered.

He was a prosecutor at the time.

He had stipulated to the charged misconduct - and other incidents where he had not been arrested and charged - and had sought treatment

Subsequent to that third conviction, starting in May 2021, Respondent has been treated by Dr. Stuart Bassman for compulsive sexual behavior disorder. Respondent sees Dr. Bassman or his associate, Dr. Patrick, on a weekly basis. In addition, he participates in group therapy, attends meetings of the SLLA (a twelve-step program for sexual addiction), and continues with his psychiatrist Dr. Miller.

Respondent testified “I don’t want to do this [the public indecency] anymore . . .,” but also conceded that he still wrestles with these urges.
