European MPs Vote to Extend Maternity Leave

Leave Members of the European Parliament have approved, by a narrow margin, a proposal that would extend maternity leave to 20 weeks on full pay and make that mandatory in the EU.  Minimum maternity leave in the EU is currently 14 weeks.  For more, see this article in BBC News Europe.

The illustration at left obviously applies to the American -- not the European -- policy on maternity leave.
