United States is Elected to UN Human Rights Council
Earlier this month, the United States was reelected to the United Nations Human Rights Council after a three year absence. The term of the United States will begin in 2022, along with Cameroon, Eritrea, and the United Arab Emirates. The U.S. State Department issued this press release.
The UN Human Rights Council is "an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and make recommendations on them."
