By Jeanne Batalova A rising number of immigrants in the United States are college educated. Nearly half (48 percent) of recent arrivals come with a college degree, well in excess of the 36 percent for all U.S.-born adults. Immigrants are over-represented among college-educated workers in fields such as health-care support and computer operations. And international students represent about one in 20 students on U.S. college campuses. This article provides an overview of the trends in U.S. immigration of the college educated, including international students and H-1B specialty occupation workers.
