TIME on the Racist Origins of 1924 Immigration Act

TIME magazine runs a nice reminder of the racist and ant-Semitic origins of the Immigration Act of 1924, with KKK and Western (specifically Washington) support.  I am not sure that it is the first comprehensive federal immigration law.  I see the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 as holding that distinction.

Don't let the origins of immigration law discourage you. The present doesn't have to be shaped by the past.
