American Immigration Council: Breaking Down The Border Bill

Yesterday, the American Immigration Council held a webinar called Breaking Down The Border Bill. It's now, helpfully, on Youtube.

This is a short (approx 30 min) and very digestible take on the border bill that was released on Sunday night.

I should note that the bill has, at the moment, failed to advance in the Senate. But the frameworks set out may still become important down the line. Who knows.

It's hard to believe we're more than 10 years out from the last efforts at large scale immigration legislation: the 2013 Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, negotiated by the bipartisan "gang of eight." You may recall that bill passed the Senate but never got considered by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. So far, this year's effort has had even less success.
