This report is misleading. See the third paragraph. "The new estimates do not reflect changes that have occurred since apprehensions and expulsions of migrants along the U.S.-Mexico border started increasing in March 2021."
According to what I have read, more than five million migrants without visas have entered the United States since then, some after an illegal crossing and others though one of the legal pathways Biden has created. And the flow is increasing as more legal pathways are created. If the DHS Life Cycle reports are an indication of what we can expect, very few of them will be leaving.
Also, the PEW estimates are based on census reports which don't cover much of the nations population, and it is unlikely that many migrants here unlawfully participate in the census.
