I don't like Biden's asylum measures either, but I have a different concern. How are we going to process the asylum applications of the asylum seekers who have already been released into the country? Backlogs in affirmative and defensive asylum applications are unmanageable already. And if we can't do that, why are we letting more asylum seekers into the country? What are we going to do with them? It has been more than 30 years since the last major legalization program, IRCA in 1986; and there is no reason to expect one in the foreseeable future either. The likely consequence of continuing to release large numbers of asylum seekers into the country is that the population of undocumented migrants will get much larger. Is that what you want?
