Two Russians Fleeing Military Service Seek Asylum in the US


Here is a news story out of the ordinary, which is related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.  Ukrainian refugees have fled Ukraine in light of the invasion.  Russia is now requiring military service.    Now, two Russians are seeking asylum in the United States after reaching a remote Alaska island. The two fled the country to avoid compulsory military service (and here). They requested asylum in the United States. after landing in a small boat on St. Lawrence Island in the Bering Sea, Alaska.
