Midterms 2022: The Changing Demographics of the Electorate


The American Immigration Council’s new report and data interactive, Midterms 2022: The Changing Demographics of the Electorate, highlights the changes in the demographics of eligible voters in every state now compared to 2016, broken down by gender, age, and ethnicity.

Some findings of the report include: 

  • Texas saw significant growth among immigrant voters in the last six years. Now, 1 in 9 eligible voters in Texas are immigrants.
  • Several swing states have a rapidly growing number of Hispanic voters. Nevada saw the largest increase, with Hispanic voters now making up over 22% of the electorate. 
  • Idaho—the fastest growing state by population size this year—also saw the fastest growth in its voting eligible population between 2016 and 2022, jumping 18%.
