Detained migrants can still access abortions, ICE says

Last week, President Biden signed an executive order aimed at protecting access to abortion in response to the Supreme Court 's decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization,

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says pregnant immigrants in its custody will still have access to abortion services, according to a memo reviewed by Axios.

ICE would be the first law enforcement agency to reinforce its health policies after the overturning of Roe v Wade.

The Wall Street Journal first reported on the memo.

Under Biden, ICE avoids detaining pregnant people, but in the instances it does, those migrants will now have more access to reproductive health care than citizens in some states.
