Many Americans have expressed willingness to help Afghan refugees. This American Immigration Council blog post provides some guidance on how one might help.
On October 25, the State Department announced that it is partnering with the Community Sponsorship Hub to launch the Sponsor Circle Program. This program will allow groups of U.S. citizens to provide resettlement services to Afghan refugees. This private program is the first of its kind for aiding refugees outside of normal channels. The program includes providing assistance to local communities to support refugees, raising monies to aid in resettlement, and possible creation of a more permanent sponsorship program.
The Sponsor Circle Program application process will be managed end-to-end by the Community Sponsorship Hub, which will offer guidance for the formation of a sponsor circle.
