The Minnesota Department of Transportation turned to the public for help in naming eight of the state's new snowplows, the NYT reports.

Some of the options floated were decidedly Minnesotan, including Raspberry Brrr-et and Purple Snow (in case you're unaware, Prince is a famous son of Minnesota), as well as Minnesota nICE (which, in my experience, is an expression that's got some surprising bite).

The suggestion of "Abolish ICE," recommended by a Minneapolis tweeter, however, was deemed "too political" for the official ballot.

Voting has now closed. More than 100,000 votes were submitted. Hopefully, MnDOT will end up with something more interesting than Plowy McPlowface, which is too derivative of the amazing Boaty McBoatface for my tastes.

Now Tater Tot Hot Dish, that's pure Minnesota gold.
