The U.S. Citizenship Act, if passed, would increase the yearly allotment of U visas from 10K to 30K. (See Section 4302, p. 287). This is the visa that's made available to victims of criminal activity.
This change is one that the Biden administration previewed in January. As I noted then, Mariela Olivares' article Battered by Law: The Political Subordination of Immigrant Women provides insight into why this change will be important, namely, because the prior 10K allotment has been "insufficient to meet the need".
