Immigrant of the Day: Swati Mohan, Engineer (India)




 for Newsweek reports on our Immigrant of the Day.  Swati Mohan, an Indian American engineer, played a key role in the landing of NASA's Perseverance rover on Mars yesterday.  She is the guidance, navigation, and controls (GN&C) operations lead for the Mars 2020 mission, based at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.  During the descent and landing , Mohan provided updates on the mission as part of NASA's live stream of the  event.

Mohan emigrated from India to the United States when she was one. She has a B.S. from Cornell University in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, and an M.S. and Ph.D from MIT in Aeronautics/Astronautics.
