Lujan Grisham: In the current environment, it just feels a bit reckless to give up any D edge in state gov't, absent an extremely compelling reason. But no such reason seems to be present here. Also, NM is hardly solid blue, given that it previously had a 2-term R governor.
Murthy: Getting on the transition team would seem to give him a leg up here.
Demings: For obvious reasons, wouldn't have a prayer of being confirmed in an R-controlled Senate.
Becerra: Might want to be Senator instead (but it's up to Newsom of course). Otherwise, sure, why not. Then you have two former CA AGs in the administration. :)
Jones: Sure, why not. A nice consolation prize for losing his seat.
Yates: Given that she had a slot to speak at the convention, seems to be popular right now. But would have same confirmation problems as Demings. Folks over at the Sentencing blog have also been hating on her performance w.r.t. Obama pardons.
Castro: First thought, "is he a lawyer?" Per Wikipedia, turns out he did have a couple-year stint at BigLaw and then put out his own shingle too. He's a talented guy for sure, but his legal resume just seems a bit thin for that position. Especially when compared to the rest of the distinguished field.
Vanita Gupta: Sentencing blog folks have mentioned her for AG and I also think she'd be excellent, but apparently she's not on Biden's radar, at this stage at least.
Sanders: Egregious political malpractice no matter what empty promises Phil Scott makes. And again, can't be confirmed like Demings or Yates. So that's at least 3 strikes against. I can't believe he'd be silly enough to suggest it or that Biden would likewise entertain the idea. (Same glaring problem would exist for Warren in Treasury.)
Coons: Would love to see him out of the Senate as he's a massive corporate hack and totally in the tank for patent trolls.
Rice: See Demings, Yates, Sanders (and Warren).
