BBC: Chinese students face increased scrutiny at US airports

Flag

The BBC reports that Chinese students are facing increased scrutiny at U.S. airports. What's going on? The U.S. is screening for "economic espionage."

That is, the U.S. is worried that Chinese students using their time at U.S. institutions to steal intellectual property.

The best quote in the article comes from one student, quoted under a pseudonym Zhang: "If I were to steal any data or intellectual property, I could send it through cloud storage. Taking away my laptop and phone for examination does nothing more than harassment."

I feel like anyone who's ever seen a hacker-based movie would be hip to that fact.
