It dives into the conditions at Smithfield that led to the spread of the virus, a spread so fast and wide that infections at the plant accounted for more than half of all infections in the state of South Dakota.

Lurking in the background of this story is the fact that many of the individuals working at Smithfield are immigrants. Employees speak 80(!) different languages and come from all corners of the globe.
