Deadline to comment on USCIS fee increases is today

The Department of Homeland Security U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is accepting comments on its proposed changes to the fee schedule for a wide range of immigration benefits. Beyond the dollar amounts, the fee schedule creates several substantive changes including an application fee for certain asylum applicants, the elimination of most fee waivers for low-income applicants, and a rare transfer of more than $100 million out of the agency’s adjudication services to fund stepped-up enforcement by another agency (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE).

USCIS's proposed schedule comes in response to a FY 2019/2020 fee review for immigration benefit applications.  More information from USCIS here. AILA documents in response here. To comment, search on for docket ID: USCIS-2019-0010 or click here. Comment period closes Feb 10, 2020.
