Refusing Refugees on International Holocaust Rememberance Day

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. President Trump issued a statement in recognition of it, remarking:

“It is with a heavy heart and somber mind that we remember and honor the victims, survivors, heroes of the Holocaust.... In the name of the perished, I pledge to do everything in my power throughout my Presidency, and my life, to ensure that the forces of evil never again defeat the powers of good. Together, we will make love and tolerance prevalent throughout the world.”

It is almost incredible that the same day President Trump issued the above statement, he suspended our country's refugee program.

Lives were lost in the holocaust because the United States did not accept Jewish refugees. It is appalling that so many decades later our country is, once again, refusing to come to the aid of those fleeing persecution.
