A murder in San Francisco became about the city's immigration policy. Here's why that's wrong.

Dara Lind on Vox considers the federal government, not San Francisco and its sanctuary policy, to blame for the release of the undocumented immigrant who allegedly killed Kathryn Steinle last week.  If Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers had simply presented an arrest warrant for Francisco Sanchez, who had been convicted of various crimes and repeatedly deported, then he would have been off the streets.
