Meet Oregonians For Immigration Reform
Anti-immigrant groups in the Southwest have gained considerable attention. These groups are not limited to the border region, however. Media Matters profiles Oregonians for Immigration Reform (OFIR), an anti-immigrant organization that has used local media campaigns with other nativist organizations to fight against legislation in Oregon aimed at supporting immigrants. After successfully attacking licenses for undocumented immigrants, OFIR has launched a new campaign to lobby against a bill that would allow undocumented immigrant graduates from Oregon high schools to receive state funded, need-based college scholarships.
