Jill Family Testifies on Executive Immigration Actions Before Senate Judiciary Committee

This past week, Professor Jill Family testified before President Obama's executive actions on immigration.  Here is her testimony.

The hearing was titled "Reining in Amnesty: Texas v. United States and Its Implications:  Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts."  Senator Ted Cruz presided over the hearing.

Family was the only immigration law professor to testify (and the only witness at that hearing to support the President's executive actions).  David B. Rivkin, Jr, a partner of BakerHostetler (and who has worked in the administration's of Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush and represented states in challenges to the Affordable Care Act) and Kris W. Kobach, Secretary of State of Kansas (and dubbed by Newsweek as "America's Deporter in Chief"), also testified.  Like many congressional hearings, the proceedings seemed more like political theater than an effort for the Senators to in fact listen.  I wish that the Senators (and the other witnesses) would have listened and learned from Professor Family.
