Supreme Court Argument recap: Mellouli v. Holder and removal for a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia (sock) conviction

Supreme court

Here is my recap of the argument in the Supreme Court in Mellouli. v. Holder.  M y bottom line is this:  I think that the Petitioner Mellouli will win and the Court will find that he is not removable for  a state misdemeanor conviction for possession of drug paraphernalia (i.e., a sock) used to conceal Adderral.  As Justice Kagan quipped, students on “half the colleges in America . . . just randomly pick[ed]” could be convicted for the same crime that Mellouli was.
