My apologies for being away from the blog for the last few days. I had a wonderful visit to Beijing and China University of Political Science and Law where I was able to make two talks, one on judicial review of agency action and the other on the jury trial system in the United States. We had a full house for both events. My sense from discussions with Chinese scholars and students was that there was serious consideration afoot of various legal reforms, including possible adoption of a jury system in criminal matters.
I am happy to say that my interactions with immigration officers in both China and the United States on this trip were professional, efficient, and respectful.
