IMMIGRANT OF THE YEAR 2013: David "Papi" Ortiz, Boston Red Sox

A previous Immigrant of the Day, Boston Red Sox slugger David "Papi"Ortiz was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2013 World Series.  He is the ImmigrationProf 2013 Immigrant of the Year.

 

The Sox won the Series over the St. Louis Cardinals in six games.  Ortiz hit 11-for-16 (.688) with two home runs and six RBIs against the Cardinals. By comparison, the rest of the Red Sox hit .169.  

Born in the Dominican Republic, Ortiz in 2008 naturalized and became a U.S. citizen.
