Immigration Reform March in DC Draws Thousands

On Sunday, tens of thousands of people peacefully marched on the National Mall in Washington D.C. calling for immigration reform.  Many political leaders from the U.S. Senate and House or Representatives addressed the crowd.  President Obama addressed the crowd by video and voiced general support for the efforts to reform the immigration laws.  See the press reports on the march in the New York TimesWashington Post, and APAmerica's Voice has photos from the march.

Although the marches drew nowhere near the numbers that immigrant right protests of the Sensenbrenner Bill brought in the spring of 2006, they do demonstrate widespread support for immigration reform.  We will see whether passage of health reform willl move the attention and energy to immigration reform.
