From Lutheran Immigrant and Refugee Services:
Now Available for Download: Free Training on "Applying for Temporary Protected Status for Haitians in the U.S."
In response to Secretary Napolitano's (DHS) announcement on Friday, Jan. 15 granting Temporary Protective Status to Haitians already residing in the US, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service developed an on-line training titled: "Applying for Temporary Protected Status for Haitians in the U.S" The training took place on Friday 22, 2010. A recording of the 1.5 hour training can be downloaded at www.lirs.org/new. The PowerPoint presentation used during this training is also included in the downloadable materials, and it references many helpful resources.
While over 1,800 individuals registered for the training on Friday, January 22, 2010, only the first 1,250 registrants were confirmed, maxing out our current technological capacity! The spirit of welcome, solidarity and volunteerism, gauged by the response to this training, has touched our hearts at LIRS. Thank you for inviting us into your lives and extending your welcome to the Haitians in our communities. LIRS especially thanks Dan Kesselbrenner, Callan Garcia, Raluca Oncioiu and Alexsa Alonzo for contributing their time and expertise to make this training possible.
