Just Your Friendly DHS Officers!

Check out "At JFK Airport, Denying Basic Rights Is Just Another Day at the Office" by Emily Feder, AlterNet. It tells the story of the writer's recent stop by Homeland Security as she was returning from a trip to Syria. "What [she] saw in the hours that followed shocked and disturbed [her]."  read on by clicking the link above.

Comments

The statements contained in this article are not truthful. Emily Feder has an anti-government bias and goes out of her way to disparage the security and admissions procedures under IIRIRA and the Patriot Act.

Dear Kevin,

Did you even bother to read that hateful screed? My God, you simply have to do a better job of vetting your sources and links before posting.

Or perhaps you did read it and simply agree with it? The saracastic title of your post indicates that you do.

By the way, read the comments to Ms. Feder's article. Have you ever heard such hateful, mean-spirited drivel in your entire life?

Worse than Russia because the DHS guard picked his molars!!!

Please, Kevin, there are plenty of articles critical of DHS that are both reasonable and fair. Feder's article is not one of them.

By the way, Carlos is right. Ms. Feder has an agenda. Shame on you for allowing yourself to be used like this.

Outrageous!

I wonder what it means that the negative posts (2) on this story equal the negative posts (2)to the blatantly racist lead comment on the story (on the same day) of the Mexican migrant killed in Pennsylvania. http://lawprofessors.typepad.com/immigration/2008/08/charges-reduced.html

Dear Kevin,

My objection is not to the criticism of DHS or ICE or any government agent who clearly abuses his or her power. My objection is to the absurdity and incredibility of Ms. Feder's article and to your (I hope, blind) link to it.

You are a credible person and this is a credible, informative site. As I have told you before, I check this blog several times a day and often get my own blog ideas from it. I thank you for that.

But in my humble opinion, Ms. Feder should be linking to you, not the other way around. She and her wholly uncorroborated, emotionally charged diatribe do not deserve the publicity you gave them.

For a more thorough analysis of the believability of Ms. Feder's article please read an article I wrote for The Immigration Lawyer's Blog titled Picking Your Molars Like a Nazi: Emily Feder's Terrifying Experience with DHS. Here's the link:

I'm going to translate Carlos and Peter's posts:

Carlos: How dare she question the government. The government is always right! Baaaaa Baaaa

Peter: Don't listen to Emily! An agenda is bad for some reason! La La La La La La
