On Tancredoism

Tancredogun1 For a nice blog entry on "Tancredoism" and the Republican candidates' race for the bottom on immigration (with links to some good stories), click here.  Maybe Tommy T's gun should be aimed at his foot?

Tancredo's strategy has been great for Tancredo, if not for immigrants, the country, or the GOP. He got to run for president and get lots of headlines even though he's polling at 2% and, to all but 10% or less of the population, is a colossal buffoon. He has the media eating out of his hand and he and his allies have been driving the immigration debate (at top speed the wrong way down a one-way road).

Tancredo must be quite pleased with himself right now. But he may not be so well-regarded a year from now if the GOP loses several key states after being deserted by Hispanics across the country. So I guess he might be shooting himself in the foot now--remember it wasn't so long ago that everyone thought Karl Rove was a political mastermind.
