2007 Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year: "The Illegal Immigrant"

The Dallas Morning News has named the "Illegal Immigrant" as its "Texan of the Year":

"He breaks the law by his very presence. He hustles to do hard work many Americans won't, at least not at the low wages he accepts. The American consumer economy depends on him. America as we have known it for generations may not survive him.

We can't seem to live with him and his family, and if we can live without him, nobody's figured out how. He's the Illegal Immigrant, and he's the 2007 Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year – for better or for worse. We can't seem to live with him and his family, and if we can live without him, nobody's figured out how."

Thanks for the assist to Texas reporter Cappy White!

UPDATE: AP reports on the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the Dallas Morning News "Texan of the Year":  "When editorial writers at The Dallas Morning News chose the illegal immigrant as the newspaper's Texan of the Year, they expected some criticism. But not this: 800 blog postings and more than 150 letters to the editor blasting the decision. Some of the critics threatened to cancel subscriptions or pressure advertisers to stop doing business with the paper."  For an editorial critical of the decision to name the "illegal immigrant" as "Texan of the Year," click here

The American citizens have never been given the opportunity to try, however, everyone knows that Americans love a challenge. Thanks Dallas Morning News for this new challege to the American people in the coming new year.

New Year's Predictions:

One illegal alien in four who crossed our southern border illicitly will decide to repatriate himself during 2008, debunking the wishful thinking of illegal aliens advocacy groups and discrediting their assertion that self-deportation isn't possible.

The fence and increased border security will reduce illegal immigration along our southern border by at least half, if not more. The circuit courts will find for local and state communities in their efforts to cooperated with the enforcement of federal immigration law.

Failure after failure in the courts of Hispanic advocacy group and ACLU efforts to have state and local laws and ordinances against employing and renting to illegal aliens overturned will enbolden thousands of other communities to enact similar legislation. As the resutl, the ACLU will press for an special hearing with the Supreme Nine to request a TRO against all such efforts, and they will lose.

Immigration will be the kiss of death for the Democrat's candidate in the coming elections, when Hillary (yes indeed, unelectible Hillary) will be their nominee to oppose Mitt Romney.

Hispanic turnout at the polls will be disappointing, as La Raza and its allies will find that they have little support for their amnesty agenda.

This will be a great year for immigration enforcement, and immigration lawyers, who profit greatly from fighting deportations.

Like the recent nomination of Alberto Gonzales lawyer of the year by the ABA, and Time Man of the Year (which once named Adolf Hitler and twice named Joseph Stalin in this category), Texan of the Year can refer to people with predominantly negative attributes, so hold off on the celebrations, as their intent was not to give kudos.

You have got to be kidding me! The illegal immigrant is the Texan of The Year??? How about the Convict of The Year! Or the Thief of The Year! Definitely NOT the Texas of The Year. That almost makes me sad to be a Texan. Definitely glad I moved from Dallas since they have become such law breakers for not only allowing the illegal immigration without doing ANYTHING, but for praising it. Must be an illegal immigrant running the Dallas Morning News.
