Immigration Critical in Illinois Elections

The banners at the meeting read "Somos America," or "We are America." Mexican and Asian immigrants there invoked the dignity of all immigrants, whether legal or not, and declared the current system for entering this country "broken."

Outside, a small group of U.S. citizens held signs of their own: "Wake up and smell the invasion," and "Honk if you want the borders secured." This showdown took place Oct. 22--not in El Paso, Texas, or Tucson, Ariz., but in the western suburb of Carol Stream. Nearly 1,500 miles from the Rio Grande, border security and undocumented immigration have emerged as defining issues in two bitterly contested congressional races in the Chicago suburbs.

Consider: A recent Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll found that undocumented immigration is the top concern for Republicans in the 6th and 8th Congressional Districts, a swath of suburbia that ranges from DuPage to Lake County. Click here.

We are conducting a survey on amnesty for illegal immigrants in the UK and the USA for the next 6 months at http://www.skillipedia.com . We want to hear opinions from normal people - not political parties or think tanks.

Your opinions or feedback are much appreciated

A comprehensive immigration plan:

1. Secure the southern border with a 2000 mile fence and use bordr guards and US troops. (If we can guard the Korean border successfully, we can guard own own borders)

2. Establish a national ID card for all identification purposes.

3.. Fine and jail employers who hire illegal aliens.

4. Stop the anchor baby process. In order for a child to have automatic citizenship, at least one parent must be a US citizen. The 14th amendment does not protect this and no US Supreme court has ever ruled that children of illegals are guaranteed automatic citizenship. A 19th century decision did rule that children of a then legal parent did have the right of citizenship.

5. Stop all welfare benefits (yes, illegals do receive certain types of government welfare programs).

6. No amnesty by whatever name.

7. Limit all immigration into the US to no more than 200,000 people per year. As we approach 300,000,000 people we need to control our population growth.

8. Enact a limited true guest worker program of a limited nature. Workers only, no families, no extra rights to stay in the US. Work permits to last no more than 3 years. Make certain that employers pay a real minimum wage (not piece work) and that they pay for all employee costs (health costs, etc)
