Some good news for the New Year! The Impact Fund, founded in 1992 by litigator Brad Seligman, has been providing strategic and financial support for public interest litigation for 25 years. Four times a year, the Fund considers applications for grants (up to $25,000) to support impact litigation by non-profits, lawyers and law firms addressing issues of social justice and human rights, economic justice and environmental justice. A list of recent grantees includes litigation challenging the criminalization of homelessness in Idaho and the excessive use of solitary confinement in Illinois -- two issues that have been at the forefront of US human rights advocacy.
The next deadline for submitting a Letter of Inquiry to the Fund is January 9, 2018. More information about the grant application process and eligibility criteria are available here.
