State Protections for Cannabis Users

Robert L. Greenberg (National Paralegal College), State Protections for Cannabis Users, Cannabis L.J. (2024):

Several states have ruled specifically, either by statute or by judicial decision, on what protections may be extended to cannabis users, in particular those users who are registered as medical users. This is an examination of state protections of cannabis users with regard to firearms licensing and possession laws, state employment protection, protections extended to cannabis users in the criminal justice system (specifically those on probation and parole,) and state workers compensation protections. With the legalization of cannabis in various forms throughout the United States, the laws of these states have been adapting to keep up. The states have taken the lead when the federal laws with regard to rights for cannabis users have not changed.
