Tara Sklar (University of Arizona), Workforce Development, Workforce Development in Healthy Aging Through the Social Determinants of Health, Aaron Guest & Elaine Jurkowski, eds., American Public Health Association Press (2021):
Preparing the workforce to be able to guide and direct initiatives at both a case and program level is an important component of building aging focused initiatives and promoting aging well through the lens of social determinants of health. By interfacing with other disciplines in an effort to address social determinants of health, health outcomes and quality of life can be improved. Public health practitioners need to align with primary care and allied health professionals on how to best address the needs of older adults and caregivers at micro, mezzo, and macro system levels. This chapter will address initiatives that promote a geriatric prepared workforce.
