First Published Report of Stem-Cell Therapy for Spinal Cord Injuries

In today's issue of the Journal of Neuroscience, researchers from UC-Irvine report (abstract) "that paralyzed rats could walk again after treatment, but only if their injuries were recent.  In the research, conducted by scientists at the University of California, Irvine, rats with week-old injuries responded well to cell transfusions, but those with 10-month-old injuries did not."
