State Spotlight: Florida: New bill signed into law making custody exchanges safer

Florida Governor DeSantis signed a bill into law this afternoon making it safer for families during custody exchanges.
The “Safe Exchange of Minor Children” now makes every sheriff’s office in the state a ‘safe location’ for parents to swap custody of their kids.
This comes as two people were killed in the last year during child exchanges in North Central Florida.
One woman was shot and killed during a custody swap at a Walgreens on Christmas day last year, and a man was killed last month during a child exchange in the parking of North Marion Middle School.
