First Covid-19, Now Cicadas

Following a year of canceled and postponed weddings due to COVID-19, cicadas are proving to be another obstacle for brides to be.

After 17 years, cicadas are set to return in May and will be above ground for five to six weeks.

Michael Forgus with Funky's Catering said they've had 70 weddings carry over from 2020, and while most people are deciding to keep their dates this year, others aren't.

"They just decided not to deal with cicadas altogether," Forgus said.

Each venue, like Pinecroft at Crosley Estate, is working with couples to make accommodations. Although cicadas can be really loud, Forgus doesn't think the noise should be too much of an issue because the outdoor venues span many acres.
