From the Hill:
A couple was reportedly unable to obtain a marriage license from the Marriage Bureau in Washington, D.C., due to the partial government shutdown.
Former congressional staffers Danielle Geanacopoulos and Dan Pollock told BuzzFeed News that they were turned away from the bureau on Dec. 27, just two days before their scheduled wedding ceremony, because of the shutdown that began on Dec. 22.
"One of the greeters at the front asked us where we were headed, and we said the Marriage Bureau, and they said, 'Oh, not today you won't,'" Geanacopoulos said.
After the encounter the couple tweeted a photo in which they suggested President Trump was to blame for the shutdown. The tweet was accompanied by the hashtag #MyBigFakeGreekWedding.
