Adnan's Inmate ID# & Location Remained the Same From March 1999 Through January 2000

I've gotten a lot of questions over the last few months about when Adnan got his inmate ID# and whether that ID# or his location changed at some point in time. This isn't a groundbreaking post, but I found what I think is the earliest documentation of Adnan's inmate ID# and location. It comes from a cover letter that one of Adnan's initial attorneys sent to the Chief of Security on March 4th:

So, as of March 4th, Adnan's inmate ID# was 992005477, and his location was R35. This then stayed the same, at least until January 2000, as is made clear by this portion of the cover letter in which Gutierrez was scheduling her law clerk/student to visit Adnan on January 15, 2000 (referenced in yesterday's post):

Hey Colin,

Has anyone on the Undisclosed team (or Serial for that matter) ever asked Adnan if he and Hae were still romantically active (define that however you want...physically, emotionally, etc) at any point between the time she broke up with him in December and disappeared? I would think he could and would be willing to share that if he was asked point-blank, but I do wonder if this is something that Adnan's attorneys would advise him to stay mum on. I don't recall this being brought up previously and I remember the Serial team glossing over Don pretty quickly.

The reason this is important to me is because if we're looking for motives for a person in Don's shoes, who was allegedly cheated on by an ex-girlfriend before Hae came into the picture, then it stands to reason that a motive could be found if he caught wind of Hae and Adnan maintaining involvement at a level that he didn't feel comfortable with. Surely Don might have felt threatened, even if minimally, by Hae maintaining a good friendship with her ex-Boyfriend. But what if Adnan told us that they had slept together or even just kissed after that final breakup? That could be enough to stoke fury/passion in the heat of a moment if Don caught wind of it. Or if you want to take the Adnan is guilty angle, its just as easy to see him enraged if he thought that Hae was messing with his emotions and that she didn't intend to leave Don to get back together with him.

Classic High School boy-girl drama...but with a devastatingly sad ending.

Thanks,
Jake

Where does his # come into the picture? Does it matter? And I missing something that's important here?

@Megan Pawlak I was going to post the same questions you asked, practically verbatim! I feel we must be missing something if Colin has gotten lots of questions about it!

Jake: I don’t know. I’ve never talked to him.

Megan and Beth: I’m not sure about the thinking. I just know it’s been asked a bunch.

Will Mark (Jen's brother) ever be questioned about Jan 13th, 1999? Not sure how he was never questioned as it was him who was "playing video games" with Jay on the 13th. Maybe he has a different recollection of that day...

Remember the note found in Hae's car to Don but never delivered? Do you think she was leaving school in a hurry to drop him the note and get back in time to pick up her cousin?

People want to prove Asia's 2nd letter was sent much later than she testified to, and are seeking Adnan's inmate number and location to try and prove it.
