Be careful out there

A lot of law professors aren’t licensed in the states where they teach, and those who do legal consulting may be at risk of engaging in the unauthorized practice of law. That’s one lesson to take from the tale of a Wisconsin lawyer who advised a client in Colorado, and wound up not merely having to return $388,000 in fees, but getting a public reprimand in the process.
