China lost a lot of soft power since the Tribunal ruled against China in her absence. Paradoxically after the decision, the Philippines tried to alienate USA to please China in its diplomatic posturing.

Professor Murphy provided a summary of the case's essential aspects and an analysis of its two main contents: the Arbitral Tribunal's decision rejecting China's spurious claims to sovereignty and the dispute's resolution.
