Is Antitrust/Competition Law or Industrial Organization Taught in Your Country?
Posted by D. Daniel Sokol
I am surveying countries around the world that are not OECD members and not members of the EU to determine whether and at which universities are antitrust/competition law and/or industrial organization taught.
Please respond to this post rather than email me directly with the following information:
Country
University (specify department- e.g., economics department or law department)
Course(s).
For example, an entry may look like the following:
Chile
Universidad Diego Portales - law school
Competition law, seminar in competition law and intellectual property

Armenia
American University of Armenia
Competition Policy: Law and Economics
(Single course taught in summer '05, it proved a bit challenging because the Armenian law draws from so many different sources - EU, US, CIS, and local peculiarities. I'd be interested to know if others have faced this issue for drafting a syllabus.)
IO is taught in Armenia, but not beyond the undergraduate level.

Competition law is not taught in the country, however in 2004 it was included in the cirricullum of some of the law universities, but there is no information whethere it was taught or not. Probably not, because there is no textbook on competition law, but we are planning to prepare one in 2007-2008.

There are few Brazilian law schools that have competition and antitrust law in their undergraduate programs. Almost all of competition and antitrust courses offered in the schools of law in Brazil are being held as a part of a major discipline under the denomination of 'Economic Law'. The courses prospects usually contain studies of market structures, defense of competition, regulatory agency legislation, consumer protection law, antitrust legislation, commercial defense principles, among other trading issues.
